What Members Thought

Really great book about the challenges that raising a transgender child brings to a family. Frankel has a transgender child of her own, some of whom the book is based. Similar to Once Upon a River, this book is about the power of storytelling and how it can be used to teach and engender conversations about things that we might not be comfortable with speaking about outright.

I loved it. I loved the details about the family with so many children, I loved the love stories between the parents and between the parents and their children and between the children and their friends, and I loved how the central conflict was (minor spoiler alert) a person vs. self kind of conflict but manifested as person vs. other person, within a family, because things are beautiful and complicated and have potential like that.
