Very good read about one family's life in the Middle East. Each chapter is written from a point of view of one of the characters at a time 3-10 years later than the last chapter. This technique is very effective as Alyan is able to tell a story that spans multi-generations without having to write 700+ pages to do so. I hadn't read a book set in Palestine, Kuwait or Beirut before, which are some of the locations in the Middle East where members of the family reside in the book. I found it interes

A beautifully written book about a Palestinian family who is uprooted during the Six-Day War of 1967 between Arabs and Israeli's. It follows the family through three generations.
