I enjoyed this first in a series, but I will give the same advice that another reviewer gave: Read Moon Called, then Alpha & Omega by Patricia Briggs, a novella. Some of the characters are in both series.

I was happy to learn some background information about supporting characters from the Mercy Watson series. I especially like the writing style and the fact that Briggs doesn't need gratuitious sex or violence to make Anna or Charles interesting. Anna is an Omega- which means that she is not bound by the same submissiveness that other werewolves are. She isn't an alpha either. Instead, she has the power to calm and comfort other weres, and they feel the need to open up to her emotionally.

Thrown into the middle of the story - ok. But I guess I’ll have to read the prequel to learn what happened to lead to their meeting? Pacing a bit slower than I’m used to from the Mercy books. Interesting threads on Charles, Asil , and Bran/Leah though.
