I'm not really a Picoult fan, finding her books to be hit or miss, especially in regard to her pattern of writing endings that tend to be implausible. I found this book to be over the top at times. I Almost put this book down when I got to the first POV chapter from the skinhead, but I'm glad I pushed through and finished. I generally enjoy alternating POV narrators and this one was done well. Some things feel like they were treated too lightly but it's a big subject and there is only so much you can fit in each book. As you would expect from a book by this author, it has the potential to keep you up at night to find out what happened next. Jodi Picoult tackles not only racism but our inbuilt prejudices which are below the surface, using the flashpoints of a dead baby, a black neonatal nurse, and a white supremacist couple.
