Cute story about a cat who is a descendant of Dick Whittington's cat. Dick was a historical figure who helped the poor and became a mayor of London- and he owed his cat for his fortunes and successes.
This is a combination of historical fiction, animal story and lessons about growing up and being different. Sometimes it's a bit confusing especially in the beginning, because you don't know where the story would take you. I'm glad to get to the end of this book - it dragged for me. I liked parts of it but not all of it.
There were at least three different types of chapters:
1. Barnyard animals and their interactions. They talked.
2. The farmer and his wife and grandchildren; their lives and the boy's dyslexia and need to read.
3. The cat, Whittington, tells a story about his famous ancestor, Dick Whittington's cat.
I have to admit the only parts of the book I really enjoyed were the chapters with the cat's story ab ...more
