The first time I read this book, I picked it up in Barnes & Noble one day while killing time between work and rehearsal. I ended up getting a coffee and reading the first quarter of it right there in the store. It really captured me. Though the main characters are involved in a moral dilemma, they are still sympathetic and likeable. I actually found myself rooting for them and realizing that things aren't always black and white. I just can't get excited about romance novels. I guess I am too old for this. In addition, the present generation of dating couples has such a different view of the dating process than mine of several decades ago, that it is hard to understand the viewpoint. Best I can say is that I read the book and was unimpressed by any of the major characters.

Chicklit's not normally my thing, but I found that I enjoyed this more than I anticipated. The ending doesn't quite work for me because I don't get a full sense of Rachel's growth, but the language and writing style is a cut above the usual in the genre.
