I feel bad not loving this much-praised book. The writer is good and clever. The content appears to be very well researched. It is about two women experiencing discrimination in the art world in two different capacities because of their gender. It has the now apparently requisite jumping back and forth in time. Solid story about three characters and how their lives intertwine. The first is one of a handful Dutch woman painters in the 17th century. The second is a wealthy, patent lawyer who inherits one of the woman's paintings that has been passed down his family for generations. The last character is an art history student who forges paintings on the side.
