My husband did not mean to kill Annie Doyle, but the lying tramp deserved it.
Right from the first sentence, you know you're in for something.. Everyone in this book is delightfully dreadful. They all lead hideous lives with selfish motivations (Lydia is a flat-out psychopath), but they are all sympathetic as well. There are several dysfunctional families in this one and most of the characters have serious hangups but the real villain isn't obvious until the very end.
