I have a mixed review on this one. The actual storyline isn't particularly interesting. It's about a very religious girl who has been fasting for four months thus far, and so a nurse is sent to see if the girl can actually live without food. Is it a miracle from God? or a sham? Most of the book you're reading about the nurse sitting with her day in and day out. It gets very interesting two-thirds through.

I definitely felt like I was transported to 19th century Ireland in this book. And it was fascinating to learn a bit about the origins of nursing and what role Lib, a nurse, played in a patient's care (how much power and voice she had, for example). The tensions between science and Catholicism and Irish and English were also developed well.
