Agapē Agape did much the same philosophical work in a tenth of the time, although I know more was going on here. The vapidness of post WWII New York was oddly familiar to todays world, but not something I needed page after page of. And for the second long book I've read this year, I find myself again going to Sigrid Nunez's The Vulnerables:
