This book is weird. Now, that's not a bad thing coming from me - I love weird - but it's also something to know going into this book. Salt Fish Girl skips through time and place, from China to the PNW, time immemorial up to 2044. Lai's language is evocative - sometimes uncomfortably so - and the world she sets up is a discomfitting dreamscape in many ways.
