The Sky is Everwhere, like Jandy Nelson’s I'll Give You the Sun, was an Addicted to YA 2015 BOTM. While I enjoyed both books, I realize yet again that I connect much more with the characters when I read a book rather than listen to one (I listened to the audiobook of I’ll Give You the Sun . This story about a 17-year-old girl grieving her sister's death and beginning new, complicated romantic relationships for the first time in her life could have been cheesy, but was surprisingly readable and moving. The Sky is Everywhere is a compelling, honest, and believable young adult novel about a girl trying to cope in the face of crushing grief. Lennie is an extremely sympathetic character who quickly wins over the reader. The writing is unflinchingly honest and the book itself is a winner for sure.

I liked the story, but I expected something cheery and upbeat. Instead it started with Lennie's sister dying. The whole book is is centered around all the characters dealing with that. I did like it though. ...more
