This is book 2 in Ragnar Jónasson's novel and I listened to it in 1-2 days - so darn good. It was initially hard to keep track of all the people on audio, especially with their Icelandic names and the Icelandic accents of the narrators, Will Damron (who has narrated some of my fave. audiobooks) and Richard Powers. I am moving onto book #3. Possibly an odd choice, or perfect choice, around Christmas holidays, but need something stimulating as I multi-task, wrap gifts, commute, etc.

So far, the first two books in this series have challenged me. I love mysteries and I love the location for these books. Northern Iceland feels so present in the stories, so much a character. But the human characters are the challenge, because none of them are all that likeable. I want to like Ari Thor, the central character, but he always ends up coming across as a bit of an arrogant prick.

A bit happier than Nordic Noir and a good sense of place, in this case Iceland.
