Interesting book to read while spending a few days in Iceland. It was a murder mystery but without too much terror and gore. More of a police procedural with many characters. I liked the way the author told the backstory of each character - how their childhood was, what they wanted out of a career, whether or not they lived abroad. this was a 3.5 read for me
Ari Thor is a new police officer who starts his first job in a small Iceland town accessible only by one road which frequently is covered by avalanches in the winter. A local author is found dead in the theater and it may have been murder. There is also a woman found near death bleeding in the snow. Good addition to Nordic crime fiction, set in Iceland. A little sparse on clues for the reader-detective, but a great sense of place. Iceland, not far from the arctic circle in winter has to be tough.
