This was such a lovely book. I keep saying "no more WW2 books" but again this was such a different view of an event I knew nothing about. The story is supposedly a Young Adult book, but i never felt as if the author was talking down to me. It is told from the perspective of four young people in their teens or early 20s. This should be considered more of a skim than a read. Alfred bothered me so I didn't read his chapters. This story in itself is heartbreaking. How is it that a story of this magnitude (the real one) isn't discussed in the way the Titanic is? I suspect it was swallowed in the horrible mortality numbers of WWII.
