I quite enjoyed this historical mystery, set in Buffalo and looking at the battles surrounding the generation of electricity from the waters of Niagara Falls. However after a while I did find it rather slow and wordy and also I never quite believed in some of the characters.

This is a historical novel and the author included a lot of real people amongst the characters. Consequently she had to introduce them to the reader and I found the first 150 pages a bit tedious because of all this factual information. However the core story is very interesting and compelling and had a few twists along the way which I did not see coming.
I'd describe it as a very satisfying read which managed to not be at all predictable.
