The setting is the Southern USA in the 1970's and this is an entirely believable story of a small town told through the eyes of a young dropout (Willie) who takes over the bankrupt local newspaper with borrowed family money.
Willie rescues the paper (and is quick to admit this is in no small way due to the crime committed at the beginning of the book and what follows subsequently), stands up for the rights of the local black residents, (not usual proceedure for that time in history) and is not a ...more
