What a fun read. I didn't know much about the central characters before I dived into this nonfiction book, so each page was a surprise. I also learned an enormous amount about wines, how they age,

Wallace seems to have taken a cue from his oenophile subjects with his writing - he lets the story breath by laying out the known facts and letting the reader do the bulk of the heavy lifting conclusion-wise, and it's of great help to his story. He explains the basis of the haute monde wine world clearly and accessibly, and it leaves you with a greater understanding of just how subjective it all is while still allowing for wine's value as more than just alcoholic tipple.
