This book is the first one that I have read by Anne Tyler. The story itself was disjointed and meandering, but I still really enjoyed it. I think that Tyler's writing style is great and her depictions of the characters in the book were very well drawn and realistic. However, after reading the book, I wasn't really sure what the point was. The whole story is a bit of a mess.
Nevertheless, I am not going to hold this book against Tyler and will be reading other books written by her again. ...more
