I had the privilege of hearing author Helen Rappaport speak at the University of Mary Washington Great Lives series. I’m so glad I did, because her short overview kept me engaged throughout this book, rich with detail.

If you’re looking for the story of Anastasia, keep looking. This is more about the family life of the Romanovs. In fact, father, mother, and brother were mentioned far more than youngest sister Anastasia. Olga by far stole the show, but I loved learning about all the girls with the
