This on the other hand. I keep saying this, but I really AM going to take a break from these for a bit.
I appreciate that Alexander's doing something atypical with her mystery here that lifts it beyond the norm for amateur historical sleuths, and it's cleverly thought out. Definitely stick around for the afterword, which may inspire you to read a recently published piece of non-fiction about Alexander's inspiration for this one. I'd link it here, but it'll give too much of the game away for this novel if you've already heard about or read it.
