Lovely tale told from the point of view of a French family about the horrors of world war two. Very well written, well paced and a emotional and moving book.

Takeaways:
1. You never know what you are capable of until tested, and often we will surprise ourselves with how much we can overcome if given the chance.
2. In the end there is honor, love and forgiveness that makes life worth living.
3. Treasure the days you have. Life is short and tomorrow is uncertain.
