2.5 and I'm rounding up to a 3. I think the timing may have been bad for this. The writing had flashes of not brilliant but very good but as it went on it became less interesting and there wasn't enough character development to pull it through. I'm hoping that it was just the start of the series throwing it off tho and that it gets better as it goes.

Duncan Kincaid uses his cousins place in a time share for a vacation. Unfortunately on his second day there a body is found in the whirlpool and he is forced to admit he works for Scotland Yard. An entertaining mystery though a few of the twists were pretty obvious.

I had read several Deborah Crombie books that are later in this series, but I enjoy her writing and have decided to start at the beginning. This is the first one and it is excellent. It is the first introduction to Duncan Kincaid and Gemma James as partners at Scotland Yard, and it is a very good story. I will definitely be continuing with this series.
