Despite all the awful things that happen in Doctor Sleep, it was strangely comforting to return to the old familiar characters after such a long time. Danny Torrance from The Shining is now a recovering alcoholic working at a hospice in New Hampshire where he uses his gifts to help patients pass peacefully. Dan discovers he has a connection to a teenage girl, Abra, and that he needs to protect her from the True Knot who want to kill her and use her shining powers as food. I really liked knowing more about Danny and enjoyed the story. I didn't find this as creepy as The Shining but it is a very good story.
