Cotton Malone has retired from government service and is selling books in Denmark. His former boss comes to visit and she is assaulted by a man who turns out to be a modern day Templar. With that Cotton follows his former boss to France in a search for the los Templar treasure. This was an okay thriller though it took a logn time to get going. The first 200 pages were a lot of history of the Templars and not much action.

Like other Steve Berry novels I have read this was rich with delicious details and lots of atmosphere however a little short on plot. It held my interest because the information on the Templars and Renne-le-Chateau was great reading but I did feel like the plot was incidental to the setting and historical background. Still, not a bad beach read.

3.5 stars. I really liked Cotton Malone; I kept seeing Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones being Cotton. The mystery was very good. The novel seemed a tad too long - a big slow in parts. I'll definitely continue the series.
