Wow, this is a terrible book... It reads like someone deliberately set out to try and do a Rear Window/Gone Girl mashup with an overlay of convenient amnesia. In a nutshell, the story is about an alcoholic who commutes into London every day and imagines the lives of a couple she sees from the window of the train -- who also happens to live on the street the alcoholic woman lived on with her ex-husband. Wish I could give half stars. This would be 3.5 stars. One of the most pitiful protagonists I've come across. Took a while to catch the format of the story. The middle was fast-paced and engaging. The end was a touch predictable. ...more

Well this book was mighty suspenseful. Since it's told from the first person viewpoint of the three female characters, things unfold as they find them out which makes things sometimes come slow or feel confusing. As I was thinking about this book, I'm not sure if any of the characters are that likable but I still enjoyed reading about them. Good audiobook listen for long summer travels.

Read for "Potluck and Prose" book club held in May 2016.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this thriller, which bordered on chick lit but which was taut and fast-paced enough to enjoy. Not great lit, but a good beach read.

Enjoyable, dark, keeps the pages turning. But I guessed the ending a little too early for my taste. Would have preferred extended titilation (sp) and surprise. Would recommend for a summer read.
