I liked the idea that bones were an important legacy for that was what endured after death. I also liked the afterward where the author explained her adaption of historical people ands.

An interesting, if somewhat bizarre and morbid story. Still, it was a good mystery.

King is a favorite of mine and I think Harris has a lot of potential, but King's usual zip and flair is missing a bit here. The late '20s Paris art scene provides a fascinating backdrop, but the foreground stalls out somewhat as Harris flails about helplessly for most of the book. The elements of a strong book are here and King's writing style remains a cut above, but the absence of a more fully realized plot makes this a rare misstep. ...more
