Very depressing, but very good.
I picked this up at an Annie's Book Swap in Laconia, NH. It's been rated with 4 stars on Goodreads ... This book's premise is a young Vermont soldier goes off to the Civil War, gets wounded, falls in love with a former slave & brings her back to VT as his wife ... & that's just the beginning. A beautifully written book that I would recommend to just about anyone that likes a little historical fiction, controversial subject matter & a strong story line.
