What Members Thought
There's a wealth of ideas here, but too many seem somewhat half-baked - I would have liked to see Burton save some of them for another novel than slot them in here without the development they deserve. It's a shame because there's a lot of incredibly interesting stuff going on, particularly with regard to Marin and her relationships to the others in the household. I think part of it is due to the style Burton's chosen, which relies heavily on oblique references to maintain suspense, but she does

Overall a good book. Hard to put down at times - although in the end, I felt let down. With all the build up around the miniaturist, I was expecting a more climactic conclusion.
The book is very well written, however I feel the main mystery wasn't solved and the story is really depressing!
