Maybe at age 50+, I just don't enjoy chick lit books?? Maybe I never did. There were some funny moments and some interesting characters, and I loved the setting. But it felt more long than a story with depth. I didn't really care about any of the characters.

Liane Moriarty is like that friend you have who says stuff like "Did I tell you about the time I.... oh, wait. I can't tell that story. Never mind." And then it takes about three hours of "What happened?" "I can't say." "Then why'd you bring it up?" "It was a mistake. I can't say. You'd die, though. It's really juicy." "Then just tell me!" "No, I can't." before she finally spills whatever it was she really has been wanting to tell you this whole time. Basically what I'm saying is, she's a tease.

This keeps showing up in Best of lists for 2014, so ... I read it. And, can I just say? ***I REALLY REALLY LOVED THIS BOOK!!*** I haven't been this pleasantly surprised, this in love, with a book since ... well since I read Station Eleven a few months ago. They are very different books, but I had the same reaction. <3 But that's not the point.

A nice quick read that kept me interested. A few parts were really unrealistic and cliche, and I don't think it will stick with me, but I'm glad I read it.

I'm always leery of chick lit, but I needed to read a book with candy on the cover for a BB reading challenge. So glad I picked up this candy-coated book! I'm surprised how much I identified with/wanted to slap most of the characters in this book. The story is murder mystery-ish but really about the dynamic between the mothers of a class of kindergarten students and how they deal with adult romance, bullying, finances, and parenting. Everyone was so believable, and the situations were hilarious,
