I'm a little torn on how to rate this book. I enjoyed it, but it wasn't without its flaws. Most of the plot "twists" were utterly predictable. I've seen numerous reviews and blurbs that compare this book to Gone Girl. Don't be misled by this comparison because the two books aren't similar at all. This book is immensely readable. It takes hold of you from the first few pages and appeals to common parental angst of raising your children right and being there for them. Especially in the case of single moms it plays up the endless fountain of guilt we seem to possess. I would have given it 2 1/2 stars for the level of its readability alone. You are swept along with Kate to find out the truth about her daughter's death.
