WOW! From the first sentence -"that summer was cool and windless, the clouds unrelenting, as if God had reached out his hand one day and nudged the sun from its rightful place"- to the prophetic words of Magpie a plains Indian warrior -"What we did was good and what we had to do - but it didn't change things." First third of the book was intriguing and kept my interest; last two thirds were slow paced, boring in fact. Didn't much care what happened to the characters, didn't even like the father...
