Recommended for fervent Marvel fans only.
This is just a gimmick. Gimmicks are okay if they are the icing on an interesting cake (or even just the interesting icing on an average cake), but this book is like icing on a cardboard form. This was a joyful riot of a comic book. It was just plain fun: A great combination of historical fiction with a bunch of our favorite superheroes. The art is good, and as per usual, Neil Gaiman writes a comic that feels gloriously whole. I'm definitely looking forward to exploring this universe more, and seeing where other artists can take it.
