What starts as a creepy and compelling supernatural suspense thriller eventually devolves into a slew of silly and implausible developments. Throughout the last third of this book, the refrain endlessly running through my head was: "Why would they do this???".

Hey, we can resurrect your dead loved one for seven days. Just a heads up that they'll hang around but after seven days, they'll be gone forever.

P.S. Oh yeah, almost forgot. If they happen to kill someone during that week, they'll hang aro ...more

3.5 stars. I enjoyed this! It was creepy and unfolded slowly, fully a mystery. At some points I felt it was a bit too slow moving, and I got a little impatient. I wanted more of the supernatural component, and felt like we probably could have benefited from seeing more of the sleepers. Also, I’m automatically disappointed when the interesting characters are evil—I would have liked more grey area and lore. This is one scary story. Seriously, I thought the book will be more like murder mystery, but turn out there's some supernatural things inside as well XD I don't mind though because apparently Jennifer McMahon is a very good storyteller, and I enjoyed this book immensely. She can fill in the loopholes pretty nicely and play with the characters effortlessly. I definitely want to dig more into her other books! ...more
