Complex & wonderfully heart-wrenchingly fabulous!!!
I love the characters, almost all of them are grey, not black, not white, but grey, complex, mixture of pure & tainted. Driven by what life has made them become. Real. Simply fabulous.
How is it that I absolutely hate Cersei, yet I feel sorry for her that she is trapped in the tangled web she herself wove?
How is it I love them all? With the exception of Caitlyn Stark / lady stone heart , I never liked her, even in the first book, I didn't like ...more

personally i think this is the weakest book in the series so far. because i like the series and didnt get bored with the book per se, i give this a 4, but comparing it to others in the series, it would probably be a 3. i know the criticisms of this book, having read some reviews online, namely that because he split the story into two parts, he left out about half of the characters, and many people think that the "better" cast is in Dance with Dragons, the next book and continuation of the story.

It was a good continuation but the cliff hanger endings and multiple characters are killers. I have read a lot of series and most include books that could be read as stand alones. That would be very hard with this series. I am amazed at the depth of the story and the multitude of characters. I have to refer to a wiki to keep up. I am now on the 5th book and will continue until done.

A little slow for the first 2 thirds of this one... but then it really picks up in the home stretch!! Can't wait for the next one!
