I'm not sure why it took me so long to read this series. I guess I thought it was more a hardcore romance than it was. My mistake and loss for gender-stereotyping. It's no Dresden Files, but then again, neither was the first book in the Dresden Files. I've already borrowed the next book from my library.

Pretty good start for Kim Harrison.
I think the best part of this book for me was the main character, Rachel Morgan actually screws up, a lot!
She is reckless in her tactics in her line of work and gets caught a lot. It was a change of pace for me to see the female lead not kicking some major butt right away. Morgan was quite annoying at first because she seemed like the character in a scary movie who always does the wrong thing. While I begged for her to take anyone's advice, to actually just RU ...more

This was a really fun read. I'm fairly new to this 'fae/human sharing one world', having started with Charlaine Harris, and more recently Kelley Armstrong, so thanks to Quest-Kravens generousity I can now add Kim Harrison to the list
