I checked this book out from the library on a whim. I seem to be stuck in a vampire/werewolf fix at the moment so I figured I'd give this one a try as it came up in a category search.

I was pleasantly surprised by the book. Whenever I started feeling as though I didn't know enough about the history of this reality, the author managed to fill in the holes. I never felt like I was overly confused from missing background information nor that there was too much information.

I enjoyed the main charact

Didn't like this book at all.

But will probably reread as everyone tells me it gets better. I find the world building interesting, but the main character Rachel Morgan (a witch) is devoid of charm or character. And I don't really like red-heads.

It feels mostly like the author is just setting things up throughout the entire novel, nothing much happens that I care about. The main problem is that there doesn't feel like there is a moving and concrete plot. Rachel makes things up as

It took me a while to get into this book, but once i did i enjoyed it. It was entertaining. It has a sarcastic sense of humor threaded through it. I liked that. It was certainly not a deep read, just an entertaining book. Comparable to Sookie Stackhouse and Mercy Thompson series. I need to read more to see which character I actually like best.

I especially liked Jenks & I thought Keasley was interesting, I don't know why but i envisioned him as Morgan Freeman. Maybe because I just like him and i

I'm not finishing this book. The heroine is a whiny b-witch who has to keep repeating the same thing over and over. ALRIGHT! We know that Ivy makes you nervous. So, shut up already!

If Ms. Harrison cut this book by a third, it might not drag so much.

The witch lore is interesting, but it's also huge info-dumping. I think I'd rather read a non-fiction practical guide to witchcraft.

Very disappointing.

This was a really fun read. I'm fairly new to this 'fae/human sharing one world', having started with Charlaine Harris, and more recently Kelley Armstrong, so thanks to Quest-Kravens generousity I can now add Kim Harrison to the list

(2008: I have still yet to read any more books in this series, but my mother, ,on the other hand, has read them all, and absolutely loves the series...I dunno, I just haven't felt the urge to continue...)
