Yeesh. I had to give up... 200-300 pages in, things have gone nowhere and we're still recapping things from the first book! If I had to hear the two main characters profess their undying love for each other anymore I was going to toss chunks. We get it already! They love each other!

Stick with the first book Wizard's First Rule it is able to (and should) stand on its own.

I'm giving it 4 stars because it kept me entertained and made me stay up very late reading it. It's engrossing and you have to keep reading to see what happens to the characters. But there comes a point, even while reading, that you are thinking "rape, again? Really? Oh, it's even more brutal this time. Got it!" I try not to finish and rate books that I think are less than three stars, but this one is an exception. I really wanted to like it, but I just kept on thinking of it as a cheap Wheel of Time knock-off. Perhaps if I hadn ...more

This must be at least the 6th time I've read this series and it always amazes me how many little details I forget each time. But that's why I re-read them - it's not always about the huge story arcs and the immense battle scenes... the little things are what keep me coming back.

This is my favorite book in the series.
