This old book is amazing.. reminds me of Mulan but well.. Alanna/Alan is still too young in here.. starting the journey at 10 (or nine) years old. She disguised herself as her twin brother and then enrolled in knighthood academy (reminds you of Harry Potter but with weapons and harsh practice). Just reread this and liked it a lot better the second time around. Tamora Pierce has become like brain candy for me.
