3.5 stars. As good as the first one. Harry Dresden is a really good main character and the tone of the book is a lot of fun. A truly fun, quick read that is NEVER boring.

Meh, maybe this clears up as the series goes on, but the schtick "can't reveal information to my cop friend so she keeps arresting me" got old in this one. I like the writing, but the character's continued stupidity about that annoyed me.

Another enjoyable book, and it will be interesting to see how Harry continues to develop. He reminds me of me - as Mom always said, I didn't have enough common sense to fill a thimble. Harry, on the other hand, charges into a biker bar all by his lonesome...among other foolhardy acts. However, he IS quite consistent in his headstrong manner and in his feelings of responsibility for everyone and everything.

Reading the last 100 pages was like being on a runaway train! The action didn't stop and I had a hard time putting the book down so I could do what I was supposed to be doing. Not Jim Butcher's best, but still a solid read with some interesting new characters and a whole slew of werewolf fun. The story jumped around between a few different plot lines, which made it feel a little disjointed, however those plot points do eventually link up at the end.

Like 3.75 stars. The Dresden Files are a lot of fun.

Second book in the series. A better plot but I agree with Cheryl that the narration of James Marsters is the main attraction.
