Ok I have been reading Jim Butchers Harry Dresden books off and on in no real order for a while now - not a smart idea since they do make reference to each other but well thats me I guess.
This book was a fun read - its refreshing to see a hero who is not above being beaten down, feeling defeated and showing it - sometimes authors like to make their main protagonist utter invincible and to me a little unrealistic regardless of the situations you see them being put in.

Foolishly, I started reading this book on a night when I was suppose to go to bed early. Jim Butcher is not the kind of author who allows his readers to put a book down and get some sleep. Hell, the guy doesn't even let his characters get any sleep. In fact, Harry Dresden (main character...he's a wizard detective) made a "Night's Sleep in a Bottle" potion at the beginning of this book because he obviously knew Jim wasn't going to let him rest. Sheesh!

Exciting from start to finish. It moves quickly and full of action. I am pretty sure I do not like Murphy too much and Harry can be too apologetic. I'll keep going with the series but not in a binge manner.

Book #2 in the Dresden series was just ok for me. I am wanting to finish the series but I am concerned that the story will lose the allure as the book series number increases. The entire story was interesting enough, however, the characters and plot were extremely predictable.
