Very entertaining. Wasn't familiar with Butcher's series until I watched The Dresden Files on Sci-Fi. Being the first of the series and weighed down by the need for exposition and introducing characters, I found Storm Front a bit clunky at first but enjoyed it mightily. Looking forward to the books to come.

This was my second attempt to read the Dresden Files- whatever distractions kept me from becoming involved the first time, happily left me alone with Harry! Butcher's work is very similar to both Laurell Hamilton's early work and Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series, but told from a male perspective. I look forward to reading more of this fun series!

I called my friend M today. I hated to do it, but I had to tell her that her husband was right: I DO like the Dresden Files books by Jim Butcher. At the very least, I liked the first of them.
Harry Dresden is a wizard who advertises his services in the phone book. Not surprisingly, he is the only wizard in the phone book, so he gets a fair share of nut jobs calling him. This time, however, he gets two calls right after the other: one from a local detective looking for his help and another from a ...more

A lot better the second time around. Yes, this was a re-read for me and the story seemed much more intriguing this time. I really like Harry, even though he likes to make life harder for himself. I still don't get why he couldn't be straight with Murphy. I mean, he didn't have to tell her about the White Council but there were things that he could have told her, about his suspicions and about Marcone and his man... He had to know that she would go and investigate anyway. Wasn't it better for her

Oh no! Bad files. I didn't get a lot of the ending. I enjoyed Marster's voice, though it was more breathy than I am used to for audiobooks. This series has been out for a while and I'm daunted by the current length of it, but it was a decent urban fantasy/cranky detective with a life that mostly sucks story. I'll have to get a print version to fill in the blanks and then decide it I want to follow the series...

Poor Harry just seemed to get into the strangest situations and it was amusing to see how he got out of them. Definitely a good amount of humor in this book and a nice change of pace to read a book where the male lead isn't perfect.

First of the Dresden files. I'm not partial to Urban Fantasy, but I was desperate for some fantasy. It's not what I had expected and I'm looking forward to reading the next couple of books in this series.

This one got me hooked on the series. I love Harry Dresden, "Saving the world one random act of destruction at a time." This is actually one of the weakest books in the series; they just keep getting better.
