For the most part, I enjoyed this book very much, and I considered giving it 4 stars - but looking back, everything was a bit too cut-and-dry for me. While I found Stephenson's vision of the future, with its franchises and enclaves and virtual worlds, to be quite interesting, this ultimately struck me as a very passive book - Hiro ends up in various circumstances/situations due to luck, convenience, or clumsiness, rather than by his own initiative. Great book, and a fine example of the cyberpunk genre. The prose is a bit choppy in places, and the book would have benefited from some better editing, but the content was top notch. Very Gibson-esque. I will definitely read some more from Mr. Stephenson.
