I was trying to remember if I've read any other Gaiman novels. I don't think so. I read many Sandman issues long ago. At sometime, I got to feeling the Gaiman was too clever or mainstream for me. I tend to more like fantasies and fictions that take me very far away from anything current or "of this world". Gaiman always seemed too relevant for me, and with a title like "American Gods," I was reasonably nervous. But, _everyone_ seemed to _really_ love it, so...
