I originally read The Neverending Story decades ago. Unlike many other people who have commented on it, I read the book first and then saw the movie, and (therefore) I am one of the few people who found the movie disappointing because it only covers about the first half of the novel, which is Bastian's personal journey in the fantasy world.

This book was difficult for me to rate. I have never seen the movie so I was unbiased. I thought the first half of the story was really good. I even liked what I think the author was trying to do in the second half of the book, but it felt like a completely different book and was a little difficult to get through for me. I could have easily given the book 4 stars, but rounded down. I am going to watch the movie now.
