I think that this book together with "Taltos" are the best parts of the "Vlad Taltos" series. Why? This book is set in Adrilankha and it focuses on Vlad and his relationship with the Dragaerans in general and with Morrolan, Aliera, Kiera and Kragar in particular. A fun fantasy book that is light-hearted and easy to read. It has some interesting ideas and was entertaining. It's not super deep--which can be a positive or negative. The dialogue errs on the side of snarky sarcasm which annoyed me. But overall, a good book. Looking forward to reading more in the series. ...more

A fun and clever book about assassination. Very detailed world-building.

Vlad is a witch, assassin, sorcerer, mafia boss in the alien Dragaeran empire. Combine that with a fast paced story and you have a great book.
