This was a relatively light book. A gentle fantasy with a moral that smacks you upside the head.
The young man's journey to get an item for his beloved is certainly not a new beginning, nor is the ultimate end, but the journey itself is full of unique adventure and interesting characters. I particularly enjoyed how the sub-plots and characters merged and came together -- on at least one occasion it was a character that I had forgotten about.

A light, breezy and fast-paced fairy tale for adults. Fun reading and a happy ending. However, I did not like the movie version at all.
