Pleasant fairy tale, ain't it. I enjoyed the movie too. A lot of Gaiman's work needs to be in a visual format. This story is simple and sweet. Don't expect anything more than a fairy tale would give you: a journey, damsel in distress, convoluted family history, good, and evil. It is the usuals but it is a fun read full of unexpected gems (the ghost brothers tickled me).

This novel is utterly fantastic and mesmerizing. When I first read it, I could feel the very magic in the story surround me, enchanting me all the way. Written in quite a different tone and style from Gaiman's previous prose works, this novel is more in tune with the lyrical, fantastic novels of the pre-Tolkien days. The wording is more flowery and expressive, the magic more prevalent, and well... magical. While I believe that the Stardust graphic novel is better than the regular novel (Charle

I saw the movie and loved it but discovered after reading the book that the producers did take some liberties with the script. I still love the movie.
I loved the book and would have recommended it for kids except for the fact that the author added a love scene and one word that was totally unnecessary!

i enjoyed this story. it was nice to hear such a different voice in the narration and characters. this is not your typical fantasy story and it was very refreshing. yet, at the same time, it was fairly predictable and i wanted more. i wanted it to be deeper, and to surprise me, but it didn't. though i was happy to get my happily-ever-after ending, it all seemed to come too easily to the characters, and i actually found myself wanting them to do more, to suffer more, horrible though it may sound.

Beyond excellent. I read it in an afternoon. I wished it was longer and would never end. It was such a fantastic fairy tale! So vivid and fun. I just cant say how much I loved it. A must-read for anyone interested in the fantasy genre. And its being made into a movie. Too bad that fucking Sienna Miller has been cast, but fortunately her role is not a big one, and I didn't like her snotty character (Victoria) anyway!

It's times like this that I'm glad I keep records of what I've read. Although I remember enjoying the story (after refreshing my memory of the plot via Amazon), Gaiman didn't make an impression on me as an author at the time. So therefore I had forgotten having ever read this story by him.
