When I was first preparing to start reading the Vorkosigan series, I found that several people advised that I start with Young Miles rather than this one, even though this is chronologically the earlier. So, I did that, and it's not a decision I regret. I'm a little more than halfway through the main series now (Memory is next on my list), and I found myself simultaneously needing a break and not wanting to leave the story that Lois McMaster Bujold has created here. Cordelia's Honor was my solu

An enjoyable start to Lois McMaster Bujold's space opera series, but not as engaging as her Miles books which followed. This particular book is a collection of two novels about Miles' parents. The second book in particular (Barrayar) dragged for me through most of it, but both are very credible bits of sci-fi which are very character heavy despite being labeled "military S-F" by many. Cordelia's Honor contains the first two chronological novels in Lois McMaster Bujold's Miles Vorkosigan series, Shards of Honor and Barrayar. These books could also be viewed as prequels to the series since they are not actually about the life of Miles but instead tell the story of how his parents met and how Miles came to be disfigured before birth. Shards of Honor is Bujold's first published novel while Barrayar was released 5 years later aft ...more

I really liked this book... i am not sure exactly why.. it ALMOST seemed like chic lit at times, ( i hate chic lit) maybe because of the romance between Cordelia & Aral Vorkosigan, i really liked Cordelia. I plan on reading the next book in the series. It is classified as science fiction but i would say that is a very loose description... maybe space opera ? not sure. It was an easy read & fun and kept my interest. One thing that was confusing at first were the similarity in names... at least u

Good. This is occasionally billed as SF romance, which it isn't. Yes, there is some romance at the beginning, but mainly it is the story of how Miles came to be born.

Precursor to the Miles Vorkosigan books, this omnibus contains "Shard of Honor" and "Barrayar".
The primary characters are Miles' parents, Cordelia Naismith and Aral Vorkosigan. The books show how they met and the clashes between Cordelias Betan upbringing and her time on Aral's native Barrayar. ...more
