I've been meaning to read Dune for decades now, but the thick paperback on my dad's shelf always intimidated me a little. I've had some knowledge of the book, being aware of the Avalon Hill game and having started Westwood's Dune II once. And none of the expectations that were generated by those were wrong.

Mini-review: The historical importance of Dune can hardly be doubted. Frank Herbert created a legacy to which every subsequent sf author must somehow relate. But hardly any genre of literature ages quite as obviously as science fiction, and we may rightfully ask what Dune has to offer a reader in the early 21st century. This was really my first step into Sci-fi, and I have to say it was amazing! I highly reccommend this book! The character development and plot are deep and twisting. Also, if you like a book with a little bit of back-stabbing politics, you should give this a try.
A great read till the very end. I will follow up on the rest of the series. :)
